Chuck Meyers- New Works at Scout
March 28th, Friday night from 6-9pm
What do you want to be when you grow up?
In the advertising business, there was always this understanding that all copywriters were just waiting until they could sell their screenplay- then they’d quit and be a “real” writer for the rest of their lives. Same goes for art directors- they were just biding time until they could start selling their paintings. Well, my friend of 30 years - Chuck Meyers - actually made it as a “real” artist, not waiting until he sold enough to quit advertising. He took a gamble and a leap of faith and devoted himself to his art. Fast forward to today: we welcome Chuck Meyers – New Works, with our preview night this Friday, the 28th of March from 6-9pm at SCOUT.
Chuck’s works on canvas are bold and intimate, highly original and very relevant to Chicagoans. No one who has seen one of Chuck’s interpretations of the L tracks or our back alleys can deny that they “scream” Chicago. After this monstrously miserable winter, most of us still believe we live in the greatest city in the world. Chuck’s work affirms this- and with each stroke of his brush, he makes Chicago come to life. With some still lives also in this year’s show, it is a must-see.
“Chuck, what do you want to be when you grow up? Oh, an artist. That’s nice…”
We’re looking forward to seeing you.
